Embarking on a 3–5 day adventure at Matira Bush Camp is like stepping into a living wildlife documentary set in the heart of Kenya’s Maasai Mara. Nestled in dense riverine forest and savannah, this intimate eco-camp offers an authentic safari experience where the rhythms of nature dictate the day. From sunrise game drives to evenings around the campfire, guests are immersed in the Mara’s untamed beauty while benefiting from the deep conservation commitment and locals’ wisdom that define Matira’s ethos.
Over the course of your stay, you will not only witness the iconic wild spectacles of the Mara — perhaps even the great migration if your timing is right — but also explore more hidden, tranquil corners with expert guides. Whether you’re tracking big cats from a 4×4, walking quietly through the bush, watching hippos in the Talek River, or learning about Maasai culture firsthand, every moment here is filled with discovery and wonder. It’s a place where adventure and serenity meet — where every day brings a new story, and every night brings you closer to the wild.
About the Camp
Matira Bush Camp is a small, eco-friendly safari camp located in the Maasai Mara National Reserve, at the junction of the Mara and Talek Rivers. The camp comprises 16 tents (both “Comfort” and “Premium”), all with en-suite bathrooms, elevated wooden platforms, and private verandas to blend into the natural surroundings. Dining takes place in The Dome, a creatively constructed communal space, or more privately on your own veranda under the stars — meals are freshly prepared using produce from the camp’s kitchen garden. The camp is deeply committed to sustainability, employing Maasai staff and supporting local schools and conservation projects.
